THE Tigers will be led by the TSL’s youngest captain at Blundstone Arena tomorrow with skipper Tim Peterson sidelined by a knee injury.

Rising star Brandon Batchelor, 19, has replaced the Tigers’ talented tall to lead the cubs into battle against a Clarence outfit still hopeful of making the top five.

Peterson injured his knee against Burnie at the Twin Ovals last Saturday.

Tigers coach Adam Henley said “TP” needed a two-game break to get the knee right.

“He’s strained the medial ligament when a player fell across it,” Henley said.

“It’s hard to lose your captain but it gives the opportunity to someone else.”

With vice-captain Braden Livingston also sidelined, Batchelor steps into the breach.

“Brandon will lead the club as a 19-year-old – that’s a pretty big achievement for a young guy,” Henley said.

“He shows all the leadership qualities for his tender years.

“He leads by example, he’s got the respect of the leadership group, the respect of the players, so he’s the ideal candidate.”
